Watercolour Paintings from the Scottish Wild
Original watercolours and fine art prints, made on the road in a campervan — from Highland lochs to windswept coastlines, and the wildlife in between.
About the Artist
A few years ago I was a sensible-ish businessman who'd never painted in his life. A rough patch with my health changed that math pretty quickly — I picked up a brush somewhere in the middle of it, and never really put it back down. These days it's watercolours, a campervan, and however much of Scotland I can reach in a day.
I paint the places I actually stand in — parked up somewhere quiet, watching the light change over a loch or a rocky shoreline before it's gone. Most of what ends up on paper finds me rather than the other way round: a hare in the dunes, wildflowers nobody else stopped for, the dogs who come everywhere with me. Scotland rarely repeats itself twice, and that's the whole appeal.

On the Road
Every painting starts with sitting still somewhere long enough to actually look. Here's a bit of the life that surrounds the work — straight from the road, not staged for a website.
